LA MIRAGE GARDEN HOTEL AND SPA, Otavalo region:
Perched on an Andean hillside north of Quito, La Mirage is a contemporary inn built to look like a old hacienda. Its 22 luxurious rooms, formal gardens, separate lounge, chapel, and dining areas are incredible. The furnishings at La Mirage are an eclectic blend of local and European pieces, all distinctive, yet cozy. There are fireplaces in most rooms. Staff, dressed in native Otavalo garb, comes by after dark and light a welcome fire to warm the chilly Andean evening. Extensive grounds invite long strolls. Bird feeders placed throughout the gardens give guests the opportunity to observe more than six different species of hummingbird.
La Mirage is an outstanding inn that we recommend to all our clients. This tour can be for accommodation only or in conjunction with a two or three day tour to the beautiful Otavalo region.
HOSTERIA SAN AUGUSTIN:
The beautiful and little known farmhouse of San Augustin de Callo is situated 90 minutes south of Quito along the Avenue of the Volcanoes. Nestled in the foothills of the Cotopaxi Volcano, San Agustin is built on the site of an important Inca Palace. The hacienda is the family home of the Plaza family.
There are six individually styled rooms that reflect the surroundings and the building's historical importance. All rooms have a private washroom and log fires in both the bedroom and bathroom.
LUNA RUNTUN HOTEL AND SPA, Baños:
Luna Runtun is a marvelous paradise of peace and good living, located at the bottom of the Tungurahua Volcano and high up on a hill overlooking Baños. This area was once the favourite place of the Inca Emperor Huayna Capac. The pleasant climate, the variety of natural hot springs, the landscape of full native trees and the beautiful lake of Santa Rosa, have made this an ideal resort for people interested in walking, hiking, horseback riding, photography, or simply relaxing.
The Luna Runtun Resort offers first class accommodation, excellent meals and the opportunity for many tours including: Journey down the Avenue of the Waterfalls; Puyo, Valley of Orchids, Waterfalls and Guayabas; The Devil's Caldron, The Smugglers Hike, The Kings of the Woods, The Two Hanging Bridges, The Priest and the Witches City Tour.
HACIENDA YANAHURCO, Cotopaxi:
Hacienda Yanahurco is the largest Andean mountain ranch and private wildlife refuge in Ecuador (approx. 6500 acres). It is the only private refuge of this size in the Andes, and is, therefore, a sanctuary for a number of endangered species such as the magnificent Andean condor and the rare spectacle bear. Hacienda Yanahurco, which is open a limited number of tourists, is also run as a cattle ranch, so visitors can really experience the Andean way of life.
There are 10 guest rooms each with private washrooms. At Yanahurco visitors can take part in the following activities: horseback riding, trout fishing, fly fishing, photography, hiking, and bicycling. In November, the Yanahurco Rodeo is a unique and exceptional event where guests can participate actively by accompanying the cowboys on their long daily rides or simply watch from afar the strenuous task of rounding up the cattle
